Issued 10:00 AM NST 2 March 2021 Today Tonight and Wednesday At 10:00 a.m. NST today low 968 mb located over Anticosti Island.By 10:00 a.m. NST Wednesday low 975 mb located over central
Newfoundland.
At 10:00 a.m. NST today trough located on a line northwest-southeast
over southwestern Newfoundland.
By 10:00 p.m. NST Wednesday trough located on a line east-west
over Belle Isle Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:56 AM NST 2 March 2021 A trough of low pressure over Southwestern Newfoundland will crossthe island today to lie over Belle Isle Bank tonight. Gale to storm
force southeasterly winds ahead of the trough shift to generally
strong to gale force southwesterlies behind it.
A deep low pressure system over Anticosti Island will continue to
intensify as it passes through the Cabot Strait this evening.
The storm will continue eastward to cross Southern Newfoundland
overnight and the Avalon Peninsula Wednesday morning. Gale force
westerly winds are expected south of the low.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Coast, East Coast - Cape St. Francis and south, and the
Southern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining
waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except the Grand Banks.
