Issued 8:00 PM NST 4 January 2025 Tonight and Sunday At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight intensifying low 964 mb located southwestof the Grand Banks.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Sunday low 953 mb located over eastern
Newfoundland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 7:56 PM NST 4 January 2025 A low pressure system southwest of the Grand Banks will rapidlyintensify into a powerful storm as it tracks northeastward tonight to
lie over Eastern Newfoundland by Sunday morning. Gale to storm force
east to northerlies will develop and spread over all waters ahead of
the low. On Sunday, winds will shift to storm to hurricane force
northwest to southwesterlies over southern waters in the wake of the
low.
Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for the Southern Grand Banks. Storm warnings are in effect
for all remaining waters except Southwest Coast - west of Ramea,
where a gale warning is in effect.
Marine interests are also advised that a high water level warning is
in effect for East Coast and Northeast Coast.
