Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 8:00 PM NST 8 December 2025 Tonight and Tuesday At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight deepening low 988 mb located near the
Burin Peninsula.
By 3:30 p.m. NST Tuesday departing low 957 mb located northeast
of the Marine District.

At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight ridge located southwest of the Maritimes.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Tuesday ridge located on a line east-west over
the southern Grand Banks.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:57 PM NST 8 December 2025 A deepening low pressure system near the Burin Peninsula at forecast
time will continue to intensify as it tracks northeastward over the
Funk Island Bank later tonight. The low will continue to deepen as
it pulls away to the northeast on Tuesday. Gale force southerlies to
northeasterlies ahead of the low will shift to gale to storm force
southwesterlies to northwesterlies in its wake. Hurricane force
northwesterlies can be expected Tuesday morning over Funk Island Bank
and winds will briefly approach hurricane force over parts of the
South Coast, East Coast, and Northern Grand Banks tonight. Winds will
diminish to strong to gale force westerlies to northwesterlies as the
low pulls away.

Marine interests are advised that a hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Funk Island Bank. Storm warnings are in effect for
Southwest Coast, South Coast, East Coast, and the Grand Banks.
Gale warnings are in effect for Gulf - Port au Port, Northeast Coast
- Cape St. John and south, and Belle Isle Bank.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except the Southern Grand Banks.
