Marine Weather StatementIssued 2:45 AM NST 13 December 2018 An intense low pressure system east of the Grand Banks will continue
to track northeastwards today. Storm to hurricane force northerlies
will diminish to gale force northwesterlies early this morning as the
low moves away from the district. Meanwhile, a ridge of high pressure
over New England is expected to drift eastwards and strengthen south
of the Maritimes. Consequently, strong to gale force west to
northwesterly winds will persist over all waters between the high
pressure and the departing low.
Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for Northern Grand Banks and Southeastern Grand Banks.
A storm warning is in effect for Funk Island Bank. Gale warnings are
in effect for East Coast, Northeast Coast and Belle Isle Bank.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, East Coast, Northeast
Coast, Belle Isle Bank and Funk Island Bank.
