Issued 3:00 AM NST 11 December 2018 Today Tonight and Wednesday At 3:00 a.m. NST today trough located on a line northeast-southwest
over northern Funk Island Bank.
By 8:00 p.m. NST tonight departing trough located east of the
Grand Banks.

At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight intensifying low 995 mb located east of
Cape Hatteras.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Wednesday low 955 mb located over the southeastern
Grand Banks.

At 3:00 a.m. NST today departing low 979 mb located southeast of
the Grand Banks.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:53 AM NST 11 December 2018 A trough of low pressure extending from the Gulf of St. Lawrence
northeastward across Northern Funk Island Bank will drift slowly
southeastward today to lie east of the district this evening. Strong
to gale force north to northwesterly winds around the trough will
diminish as it pulls away.

A low pressure system developing off Cape Hatteras this morning is
forecast to rapidly intensify into a major storm as it approaches,
crossing the Grand Banks Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night.
Gale to storm force east to northeasterlies will spread across
southern and eastern waters overnight through Wednesday ahead of the
low then shift to gale to storm force north to northwesterlies in its
wake. South of the low, storm to hurricane force southwesterlies can
be expected over the Southeastern Grand Banks Wednesday evening.

Marine interests are advised that a hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Southeastern Grand Banks. Storm warnings are in effect
for East Coast - Cape St. Francis and south, Northern Grand Banks and
Southwestern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for all
remaining waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect to Strait of Belle Isle and Gulf waters.
