Marine Weather StatementIssued 7:59 PM NST 21 February 2024 An intense low pressure system east of Greenland will continue to
track eastward tonight and Thursday. Strong to gale force westerlies
over most waters behind the low will diminish tonight as the low
moves away and a ridge of high pressure approaches.
Meanwhile a trough of low pressure is expected to approach from the
southwest and cross southern waters late on Thursday. Strong to gale
force southerlies are expected south of the trough Thursday evening.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Belle Isle Bank, Funk Island Bank, and Southwestern Grand Banks.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Northeast Gulf, Northeast Coast,
Belle Isle Bank and Funk Island Bank.
