Technical Marine Synopsis
Issued 8:00 PM NST 1 March 2021 Tonight and Tuesday At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight ridge located on a line north-south overeastern Newfoundland.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Tuesday departing ridge located east of the
Grand Banks.
At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight intensifying trough from 985 mb low
located over Nova Scotia.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Tuesday trough from 965 mb low located from
Anticosti Island to the Strait of Belle Isle then to the Grand
Banks.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 7:54 PM NST 1 March 2021 A low pressure system approaching from the southwest will rapidlyintensify as it moves to lie over the Gulf of St. Lawrence tonight
where it will stall on Tuesday. A trough associated with the low will
sweep northeastward across the district tonight and Tuesday. Gale to
storm force east to southeasterlies will spread across all waters
ahead of the trough before shifting to strong to gale force west to
southwesterlies in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Southwest Coast, South Coast, East Coast - Cape St. Francis and
south, and the Southern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for
all remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that a freezing spray warning is in
effect for Gulf - Port au Port and the Southwest Coast.
