At 10:00 a.m. NST today trough located over Belle Isle Bank.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Thursday departing trough located southeast of
the Grand Banks.
At 10:00 a.m. NST today ridge located over Quebec.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Thursday ridge located over the Maritimes.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:58 AM NST 20 February 2019 Gale force northwesterly winds will persist over most waters todaydue to an intense storm southeast of Greenland. A trough extending
from the low will swing southeastward along the northeastern edge of
the district today spreading storm force northwesterlies to northern
and eastern waters. Winds will gradually diminish over western waters
overnight and elsewhere on Thursday as the low weakens and a ridge of
high pressure approaches from the west.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Belle Isle Bank, Funk Island Bank and Northern Grand Banks.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters except Northeast
Gulf.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except Strait of Belle Isle and Northeast Coast
which are mainly ice covered.
