Issued 10:00 AM NST 31 January 2023 Today Tonight and Wednesday At 10:00 a.m. NST today trough located on a line northeast-southwestover the Grand Banks.
By 3:30 p.m. NST today departing trough located over the
southeastern Grand Banks.
At 10:00 a.m. NST today intensifying low 1015 mb located over
southwestern Nova Scotia.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Wednesday low 1002 mb located over the Avalon
Peninsula.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 10:23 AM NST 31 January 2023 A trough of low pressure stretching across the Grand Banks will movesoutheast of the district later today. Strong to gale force
southwesterlies ahead of the trough will diminish to light to
moderate in its wake.
An intensifying low pressure system over Southwestern Nova Scotia
will track northeastward crossing the Avalon Peninsula overnight
before moving east of Funk Island Bank Wednesday afternoon. Strong to
gale force southwesterlies will develop ahead of the low then shift
to strong to gale force northwesterlies in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
East Coast, Funk Island Bank, and the Grand Banks.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except Strait of Belle Isle and the Southern
Grand Banks.
