At 3:00 a.m. NST today ridge located on a line northwest-southeast
over Belle Isle Bank.
By 10:00 a.m. NST today weakening ridge located on a line
northwest-southeast over Belle Isle Bank.
Marine Weather StatementIssued 2:49 AM NST 28 February 2020 A trough of low pressure over Cape Breton Island will cross
Newfoundland today to lie on an east-west line over the Great
Northern Peninsula tonight. Gale to storm force easterlies will
spread across most waters ahead of the trough today and weaken to
strong easterlies throughout the forecast period. In the wake of the
trough, strong to gale force westerlies are forecast.
Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Southwest Coast. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters
except Belle Isle Bank and Funk Island Bank.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Gulf - Port au Port and Northeast Coast.
