By 10:00 a.m. NST today departing low 985 mb located east of
Greenland.
At 3:00 a.m. NST today trough located on a line east-west over
Laurentian Fan.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Friday trough located on a line north-south over
the southwestern Grand Banks.
At 3:00 a.m. NST today ridge located on a line east-west over
Newfoundland.
By 8:00 p.m. NST tonight quasi-stationary ridge located on a line
east-west over Belle Isle Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:50 AM NST 26 December 2024 A low pressure system along the coast of Greenland will track east ofGreenland this morning. Meanwhile, a ridge of high pressure over
Newfoundland will begin to slowly drift northward. Strong to gale
force southwesterlies over northern waters between these two features
will diminish this morning.
A trough of low pressure over the Laurentian Fan will track
northeastward to lie over the Grand Banks by this afternoon. Strong
to gale force east to southeasterlies are expected east of the
trough, with strong to gale force northeasterlies to its north and
west.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
South Coast, East Coast - Cape St. Francis and south, Belle Isle
Bank, and the Grand Banks.
