Issued 10:00 AM NST 4 January 2025 Today Tonight and Sunday At 10:00 a.m. NST today intensifying low 992 mb located south ofNova Scotia.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Sunday low 949 mb located over the East Coast
of Newfoundland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:47 AM NST 4 January 2025 A low pressure system south of Nova Scotia will rapidly intensifyinto a powerful storm as it tracks northeastward today to lie over
Eastern Newfoundland by Sunday morning. Gale to storm force east to
northerlies will develop and spread over all waters ahead of the low.
On Sunday, winds will shift to storm to hurricane force northwest to
southwesterlies over southern waters in the wake of the low.
Marine interests are advised that a hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Southwestern Grand Banks. Storm warnings are in effect
for all remaining waters, except Southwest Coast - west of Ramea,
where a gale warning is in effect.
Marine interests are also advised that a high water level warning is
in effect for East Coast and Northeast Coast.
