Issued 3:30 PM AST 4 January 2025 Tonight and Sunday At 3:30 p.m. AST today low 965 mb located south of Laurentian Fan.By 8:00 p.m. AST tonight low 955 mb located southeast of Laurentian
Fan.
At 3:30 p.m. AST Sunday quasi-stationary low 949 mb located near
the Avalon Peninsula.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:26 PM AST 4 January 2025 A rapidly intensifying low pressure system will approach southeasternwaters today and continue tracking northeastward tonight to lie near
the Avalon Peninsula on Sunday. Gale to storm force northeast winds
north of the low will strengthen to storm to hurricane force
northwest winds in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that a hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Laurentian Fan - eastern half. Storm warnings are in
effect for eastern shore - eastern half, Sable - eastern half, East
Scotian Slope - eastern half, Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan -
western half and Cabot Strait. Gale warnings are in effect for all
remaining waters except Fundy and Grand Manan.
Additionally, freezing spray warnings are in effect for Fundy, Grand
Manan, Lurcher, Browns Bank, southwestern shore, LaHave Bank, eastern
shore - western half, Sable - western half, Northumberland Strait,
and Chaleur-Miscou.
