Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:55 AM AST 15 November 2018 An intense low pressure system will continue to track east of
Newfoundland today. Gale to storm force northwesterlies in the wake
of the low will begin to diminish today as the low moves further away
over the northern Atlantic and a ridge of high pressure builds in
from the west.

On Friday a second low pressure system will track across the region.
At this time it is expected that this low pressure system will track
across Nova Scotia, from the southwest to the northeast. There
remains uncertainty in the final track and intensity of this system.
Slight changes in the track of this low could significantly change
some of the marine forecasts, especially for regions that border Nova
Scotia and New Brunswick. There is also a possibility that storm
force southeasterlies ahead of this low may develop over southwestern
waters on Friday.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
eastern shore-eastern half, Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan,
Cabot Strait, Gulf-Magdalen, and Anticosti. Gale warnings are in
effect for all remaining waters.

High winds will produce rough and pounding surf along west facing
shorelines in the Gulf of St. Lawrence this morning.

Outlook for the start-up of the Southwest New Brunswick lobster
fishery:

Today..Winds northwest 30 knots diminishing to 20 by mid-morning
(lfa38 and western lfa36) and later in the morning (eastern lfa36).
Winds diminishing to north 10 to 15 throughout the Bay of Fundy in
the afternoon. Waves 2 metres over southern sections of the fishing
districts, subsiding to less than 1 in the afternoon.

Friday..Winds becoming southeast 15 to 20 knots early in the day and
then increasing to easterly 40 late morning for Grand Manan then 35
in the afternoon for Fundy. Winds becoming northerly 25 to 35 in the
evening.
