At 10:00 a.m. AST Thursday low 1007 mb located west of Georges Bank.
By 8:00 p.m. AST Thursday low 998 mb located over East Scotian
Slope.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:53 AM AST 20 February 2019 A ridge of high pressure west of the Maritimes will gradually buildacross the district tonight and Thursday. Strong to gale force
northwesterlies ahead of the ridge will diminish from west to east as
it nears the region. Meanwhile a low pressure system will approach
southwestern waters Thursday morning and will move to lie over East
Scotian Slope Thursday evening. Winds will strengthen to strong to
gale force southeasterlies ahead of the low then shift to strong to
gale force westerlies in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Georges Bank, West Scotian Slope, eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian
Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan, Cabot Strait,
Gulf-Magdalen - northeastern half, and Anticosti.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except Georges Bank, West Scotian Slope,
Northumberland Strait, Gulf-Magdalen - southwestern half and
Chaleur-Miscou.
