By 8:00 p.m. AST tonight low 958 mb located north of Newfoundland.
At 3:00 a.m. AST Tuesday ridge located over the East Coast of
the U.S.
By 3:30 p.m. AST Tuesday ridge located south of the Marine District.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:28 AM AST 12 January 2026 An intense low pressure system northeast of Nova Scotia will continuetracking northeastward today to lie north of Newfoundland by this
evening. Gale to storm force westerlies in the wake of the low, winds
are expected and will diminish tonight as the low pulls away.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
eastern shore - eastern half, Sable - eastern half, East Scotian
Slope - eastern half, Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan, Cabot
Strait, and Gulf-Magdalen. Gale warnings are in effect for all other
waters.
Additionally, freezing spray warnings are in effect for
Northumberland Strait, Chaleur-Miscou and Anticosti.
