Wind east 25 knots increasing to east 35 this morning and locally gusts to 55 along the Newfoundland coast. Wind diminishing to southwest 25 this afternoon except northeast 25 over northern sections. Wind diminishing to north 20 overnight then backing to northwest 25 near noon Friday. Wind increasing to northwest 35 Friday evening.

Snow changing to rain or freezing rain near noon then to snow Friday morning. Fog patches forming this afternoon and dissipating overnight. Visibility 1 mile or less in snow and in fog patches.

Freezing spray warning in effect.

Over open water freezing spray ending near noon. Freezing spray beginning Friday morning.

Temperatures minus 10 to minus 2 rising to minus 3 to plus 5 this afternoon then falling to minus 7 to minus 2 Friday morning.

Issued 3:00 AM NDT 12 March 2026 Today Tonight and Friday At 3:00 a.m. NDT today low 994 mb located over southern Quebec.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Friday low 993 mb located over western
Newfoundland.

At 3:00 a.m. NDT today ridge located from the Grand Banks to
Hudson Bay.
By 3:30 p.m. NDT today departing ridge located over Belle Isle Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:53 AM NDT 12 March 2026 A low pressure system over Southern Quebec will cross the Gulf of St.
Lawrence today and tonight before rapidly deepening as it tracks over
Belle Isle Bank on Friday. Strong to gale force northeasterlies to
southeasterlies are expected north of the low today with strong to
gale force southwesterlies to its south. As the low rapidly deepens
on Friday, gale to storm force northwesterlies to southwesterlies
will develop to its south.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank. Gale warnings
are in effect for all remaining waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Southwest Coast,
Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank and Funk Island Bank.
