Issued 10:00 AM NST 18 January 2026 Today Tonight and Monday At 10:00 a.m. NST today low 1013 mb located over southwestern
Newfoundland.
By 3:30 p.m. NST today departing low 1013 mb located east of Funk
Island Bank.

At 3:30 p.m. NST today deepening low 1008 mb located east of
Cape Hatteras.
By 3:30 p.m. NST Monday low 983 mb located over southeastern
Newfoundland.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:54 AM NST 18 January 2026 A low pressure system over Southwestern Newfoundland will track
eastward across the district today and depart to the east of the Funk
Island Bank this afternoon. Strong to gale force southwesterlies
south of the low will diminish later today as it departs.

A second low pressure system will develop near Cape Hatteras this
afternoon and deepen as it tracks northeastward to lie over
Southeastern Newfoundland on Monday afternoon. Strong to gale force
easterlies to northeasterlies will develop to the north of its track,
while gale to storm force westerlies to southwesterlies will develop
to its south. Winds will shift to strong to gale force
northwesterlies in its wake.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Coast, East Coast, and Northern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are
in effect for all remaining waters except Strait of Belle Isle and
Gulf waters.

Marine interests are also advised that a freezing spray warning is in
effect for Belle Isle Bank.
