By 8:00 p.m. AST Friday ridge located from the Gulf of St. Lawrence
to the Grand Banks.
At 3:00 a.m. AST Friday low located south of Long Island.
By 8:00 p.m. AST Friday low located south of Georges Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:26 AM AST 5 March 2026 Strong to gale force northwest winds over northern waters will slowlydiminish today and tonight as a ridge of high pressure builds over
the Maritimes.
A low pressure system will slowly approach southwestern waters on
Friday passing just south of Georges Bank by evening. Winds will
increase to strong to gale force easterlies ahead of the low.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Georges Bank, West Scotian Slope and Cabot Strait - northern half.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for eastern shore, Sable - eastern half, Fourchu, Banquereau,
Cabot Strait, Gulf-Magdalen - northeastern half and Anticosti.
