Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 10:00 AM AST 20 February 2025 Today Tonight and Friday At 10:00 a.m. AST today ridge located over the southwestern Marine
District.
By 8:00 p.m. AST tonight weakening ridge located from the Grand
Banks to the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

At 3:30 p.m. AST today deepening low 992 mb located southwest of
the Marine District.
By 10:00 a.m. AST Friday low 966 mb located over Laurentian Fan.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:50 AM AST 20 February 2025 A developing low pressure system will track northeastward today and
intensify just south of the marine district tonight. The disturbance
will track across Laurentian Fan Friday morning to lie east of the
district in the afternoon.

Gale force northeasterly winds north of the low shift to gale to
storm force northerlies west of it. Storm to hurricane force
southwesterly winds are forecast over extreme southeastern waters
just south of the low.

Marine interests are advised that a hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Laurentian Fan - southern half. Storm warnings are in
effect for East Scotian Slope and Laurentian Fan - northern half.
Gale warnings are in effect for Sable - eastern half and Banquereau -
southern half. Freezing spray warnings are in effect for eastern
shore - eastern half, Fourchu, Cabot Strait, Gulf-Magdalen,
Chaleur-Miscou and Anticosti.
