By 8:00 p.m. AST tonight low 974 mb located near Anticosti Island.
At 3:00 a.m. AST Friday low 972 mb located over Labrador.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:26 PM AST 26 January 2023 An intensifying low pressure system over Central New Brunswick willtrack northeastward to lie near Anticosti Island this evening.
The system will move across Labrador later tonight. Storm to isolated
hurricane force southerlies ahead of the associated cold front will
diminish to strong to gale force southwesterlies in the wake of the
front.
Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for Gulf-Magdalen - eastern half, and Anticosti - eastern
half. Storm warnings are in effect for eastern shore, Sable, East
Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan, Cabot Strait,
Gulf-Magdalen - western half, Chaleur-Miscou - eastern half, and
Anticosti - western half. Gale warnings are in effect for all
remaining waters.
Freezing spray warnings are in effect for Cabot Strait - northern
half and all Gulf of St. Lawrence waters.
Higher than normal water levels and large waves along the Northeast
Coast of New Brunswick including the Bay of Chaleur near high tide
this afternoon.
