Issued 10:00 AM AST 16 January 2026 Today Tonight and Saturday At 10:00 a.m. AST today trough located from East Scotian Slope tothe Gulf of St. Lawrence.
By 8:00 p.m. AST tonight departing trough located on a line
north-south over the Grand Banks.
At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight approaching ridge located over New England.
At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight quasi-stationary low located over the
Great Lakes.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:28 AM AST 16 January 2026 A stalled trough extending from East Scotian Slope to the Gulf of St.Lawrence will slowly begin to move east of the district this
afternoon. Gale to storm force southerlies ahead of the trough this
morning will veer to gale to storm force westerlies behind it.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau, and
Laurentian Fan. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining
maritime waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Northumberland Strait, Gulf-Magdalen, Chaleur-Miscou, and
Anticosti.
