Strait.
At 8:00 p.m. AST Sunday weakening low 985 mb located over the
eastern Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:17 PM AST 23 November 2024 An intense low pressure system over Nova Scotia this afternoon willmove to lie over Northumberland Strait this evening. The low will
stall there tonight then drift slowly eastward on Sunday as it
gradually weakens. Gale to storm force easterlies ahead of the low
then shift to gale to storm force southwesterlies south of it.
Gale force northwesterlies are expected over western waters in the
wake of the low.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Cabot Strait - northern half, Gulf-Magdalen, and Chaleur-Miscou -
eastern half. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.
Marine interests are advised that higher than normal water levels and
rough surf is expected along north and east facing coastlines of the
Gulf of St. Lawrence near the high tide late this afternoon and
evening.
Outlook for the start of the Southwest Nova lobster fishery.
Monday..Winds northwesterly 35 knots diminishing to 25 to 30 knots in
the afternoon and to 20 by evening. Seas 3 to 4 metres subsiding to 2
late in the day.
Tuesday..Winds light in the morning increasing to southeast 15 to 20
in the afternoon and southerly 20 to 25 by evening. Seas one metre
building to 2 metres by evening.
Wednesday..Winds westerly 25 knots. Seas 2 to 3 metres.
