Newfoundland.
At 3:30 p.m. AST Friday trough located on a line north-south over
the Grand Banks.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:53 AM AST 15 January 2026 An approaching trough will move eastward across the marine districttoday and is expected to stall over eastern waters tonight and
intensify. The trough will eventually move out of the region Friday
afternoon. Gale to storm force southerlies are forecast ahead of the
trough with strong to gale force westerlies in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
East Scotian Slope - southeastern half, Banquereau, and Laurentian
Fan. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Northumberland Strait, Gulf - Magdalen, Chaleur - Miscou,
and Anticosti.
