Issued 3:00 AM NST 29 November 2023 Today Tonight and Thursday At 3:00 a.m. NST today trough located on a line northwest-southeastover Belle Isle Bank.
By 10:00 a.m. NST today departing trough located over Labrador Sea.
At 3:00 a.m. NST today intensifying low 997 mb located southwest
of Laurentian Fan.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Thursday deepening low 979 mb located over Belle
Isle Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:03 AM NST 29 November 2023 A trough of low pressure over Belle Isle Bank will continue to tracknortheastward to lie over the Labrador Sea by this afternoon. Gale to
storm force southeasterlies ahead of the trough will shift to strong
to gale force southwesterlies in its wake, further diminishing as it
tracks northeastward.
A developing low pressure system south of the Laurentian Fan will
track northeastward today and rapidly intensify. It is expected to
pass east of the Avalon Peninsula this evening and move north of the
district on Thursday morning. Gale force southeasterlies ahead of the
low will shift to gale to storm force westerlies in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
East Coast - Cape St. Francis and south, Belle Isle Bank, and the
Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for the Strait of Belle
Isle, South Coast, East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis, and Funk
Island Bank.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle - eastern half and Belle Isle Bank.
