Issued 8:00 PM AST 18 January 2021 Tonight and Tuesday At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight cold front located from Anticosti Islandto Maine.
By 3:30 p.m. AST Tuesday cold front located southeast of the
Marine District.
At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight intensifying low 998 mb located south of
Laurentian Fan.
By 10:00 a.m. AST Tuesday departing low 986 mb located over the
northern Grand Banks.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 7:54 PM AST 18 January 2021 A cold front on a northeast to southwest line over Anticosti Islandwill move southeastward across the district tonight and Tuesday.
Strong to gale force southwesterlies ahead of the front will veer to
strong northwesterlies behind it. Colder air in the wake of the cold
front will give freezing spray to the Gulf of St. Lawrence waters on
Tuesday.
This evening, a low pressure system will approach Laurentian Fan from
the southwest and intensify as it crosses the Grand Banks tonight and
Tuesday. Winds over the southeastern half of Laurentian Fan may reach
gale force this evening.
Marine interests are advised that a gale warning is in effect for
Anticosti. Freezing spray warnings are in effect for Northumberland
Strait, Gulf-Magdalen, Chaleur-Miscou, and Anticosti.
