Marine Weather StatementIssued 2:57 AM AST 13 December 2018 An intense low pressure system east of the Grand Banks will continue
to move northeastward away from the district today. Strong to gale
force northerly winds in its wake will gradually diminish today over
western waters and tonight over Easter waters. On Friday a ridge of
high pressure will build over southwestern waters and then move south
of the Scotian Slope. Moderate to strong west to southwest winds will
prevail north of this system.
Cold air will give freezing spray to the northern half of the marine
district today. Milder temperatures are expected with the return of
the westerlies tonight and Friday.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Laurentian
Fan-western half, Cabot Strait, Northumberland Strait-eastern half
In addition, freezing spray warnings are in effect for Fundy, Grand
Manan, Lurcher, southwestern shore, eastern shore, Fourchu, Cabot
