Marine Weather Statement
Issued 7:52 PM AST 19 January 2021 Strong northwesterlies will prevail across the district tonight as alow pressure system remains east of Newfoundland. Colder air over the
Gulf of St. Lawrence will cause freezing spray for much of tonight
and Wednesday. The northwesterlies will diminish over southwestern
waters later tonight.
On Wednesday, another low pressure system will deepen southwest of
Long Island to lie south of West Scotian Slope by Wednesday evening.
As a result of this second low, strong northerlies developing late in
the day over southwestern waters could possibly reach gale force over
Georges Bank and West Scotian Slope. This system will likely spread
gale to possibly storm force winds to southernmost waters on
Thursday.
Marine interests are advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Cabot Strait, Northumberland Strait, Gulf-Magdalen,
Chaleur-Miscou, and Anticosti.
