Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 3:30 PM AST 13 November 2018 Tonight and Wednesday At 3:30 p.m. AST today ridge located on a line north-south over
the eastern Marine District.
By 3:00 a.m. AST Wednesday ridge located east of Newfoundland.

At 3:30 p.m. AST today deepening low 1002 mb located near Cape Cod.
By 10:00 a.m. AST Wednesday intensifying low 970 mb located east
of Anticosti Island.

At 8:00 p.m. AST Wednesday departing low 952 mb located northeast
of Newfoundland.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:59 PM AST 13 November 2018 A low pressure system currently near Cape Cod will rapidly intensify
as it tracks northeastward across the Bay of Fundy this evening and
across the Gulf of St. Lawrence overnight and Wednesday morning.
Winds ahead of the approaching low will reach gale to storm force
southerlies. As the low passes, winds will become gale to storm force
westerlies and persist for the remainder of Wednesday.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau,
Laurentian Fan, Cabot Strait, Northumberland Strait, Chaleur-Miscou
and Anticosti. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.

High winds on Wednesday will produce rough and pounding surf along
west facing shorelines in the Gulf of St Lawrence.

Outlook for the start-up of the Southwest New Brunswick lobster
fishery:
Tonight..Winds southeast 25 to 35 knots. Winds increasing to
southeast 45 early this evening over Grand Manan (lfa 38, western lfa
36). Winds becoming southwest 25 later in the evening then shifting
to west 30 to 35 around midnight.
Wednesday..Winds west 40 (lfa 36), and northwest 45 knots lfa 38).
Thursday..Winds northwest 35 knots diminishing to 25 early in the
morning and then to 15 in the afternoon. Winds becoming light late in
the day.
