Technical Marine Synopsis
Issued 3:30 PM AST 23 January 2021 Tonight and Sunday At 3:30 p.m. AST today low 988 mb located over southern Labrador.By 10:00 a.m. AST Sunday low 992 mb located near Prince Edward
Island.
At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight departing trough located south of the
Marine District.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:22 PM AST 23 January 2021 An area of low pressure continues to bring strong northerly windsover the eastern waters. The winds will weaken as the low moves
eastward into the Grand Banks. In the southern waters, a departing
trough will leave strong to gale force northwesterly winds in its
wake.
An intensifying low located over Southern Labrador will track into
the Gulf of St. Lawrence overnight. Winds will increase as the low
deepens. These strong winds will cause freezing spray in the region.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Lurcher, Browns Bank, Georges Bank, West Scotian Slope, and
Laurentian Fan - southwestern half.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Fundy, Grand Manan, Northumberland Strait - western half,
Gulf-Magdalen, Chaleur-Miscou, and Anticosti.
