Issued 10:00 AM AST 20 January 2021 Today Tonight and Thursday At 10:00 a.m. AST today low 970 mb located northeast ofNewfoundland.
By 3:00 a.m. AST Thursday departing low 985 mb located over
Labrador Coast.
At 10:00 a.m. AST today deepening low 1011 mb located south of
Long Island.
By 10:00 a.m. AST Thursday low 974 mb located south of Laurentian
Fan.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:58 AM AST 20 January 2021 Strong northwesterlies will prevail across the district today as alow pressure system remains northeast of Newfoundland. Colder air
over the Gulf of St. Lawrence will cause freezing spray for much of
today and tonight.
Another low pressure system will deepen south of Long Island and
cross just south of the marine district tonight and into Thursday.
Gale to storm force northerlies will develop over southernmost waters
tonight as the low passes.
Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Laurentian Fan - southeastern half. Gale warnings are in effect for
Georges Bank, West Scotian Slope, East Scotian Slope, Banquereau -
eastern half, and Laurentian Fan - northwestern half.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Cabot Strait, Northumberland Strait, Gulf-Magdalen, and
Anticosti.
