At 10:00 a.m. NST today ridge located on a line north-south over
New Brunswick.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Sunday ridge located on a line northeast-southwest
over Newfoundland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:46 AM NST 9 December 2023 A low pressure system east of Belle Isle Bank will remain nearlystationary before finally departing to the east late Sunday. Gale to
storm force northwesterlies will gradually diminish to strong to gale
force northwesterlies today. Winds will further diminish through
Sunday as a ridge moves in from the west.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Belle Isle Bank and Funk Island Bank. Gale warnings are in effect for
all remaining waters except Strait of Belle Isle - western half and
Gulf waters.
Marine interests are also advised that large waves, pounding surf and
higher than normal water levels are possible during high tide early
this evening along portions of the East Coast and Northeast Coast
from Cape St. Francis to Cape St. John.
