Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 10:00 AM NST 20 January 2025 Today Tonight and Tuesday At 10:00 a.m. NST today quasi-stationary trough located over the
West Coast of Newfoundland.

At 10:00 a.m. NST today deepening low 987 mb located over Cape
Breton Island.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Tuesday low 961 mb located over southern Labrador
Sea.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:51 AM NST 20 January 2025 A trough of low pressure will remain nearly stationary over Western
Newfoundland this morning. Strong to gale force south to southeast
winds will continue east of the trough.

A deepening low pressure system over Cape Breton will move along the
trough to lie north of Belle Isle Bank overnight. Winds will
strengthen to gale to storm force south to southeasterlies over most
waters ahead of this low then shift to gale to storm force southwest
to northwesterlies in its wake.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Belle Isle Bank and Funk Island Bank. Gale warnings are in effect for
all remaining waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except the Southern Grand Banks.
