Issued 3:00 AM NST 12 December 2018 Today Tonight and Thursday At 3:00 a.m. NST today ridge located on a line northwest-southeast
over the East Coast of Newfoundland.
By 3:30 p.m. NST today dissipating ridge located over Belle
Isle Bank.

At 3:00 a.m. NST today intensifying low 985 mb located south of
Nova Scotia.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Thursday low 950 mb located east of the Grand
Banks.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:53 AM NST 12 December 2018 A low pressure system south of Nova Scotia is forecast to rapidly
intensify into a major storm as it crosses the Grand Banks this
afternoon and tonight. Gale to storm force east to northeasterlies
will spread across southern and eastern waters ahead of the low today
then shift to gale to storm force north to northwesterlies tonight in
its wake. Storm to hurricane force southwesterlies can be expected
over the Southeastern Grand Banks this evening, shifting to hurricane
force northerlies over the Eastern Grand Banks before morning on
Thursday.

Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for Southeastern Grand Banks and Northern Grand Banks.
Storm warnings are in effect for East Coast - Cape St. Francis and
south, Funk Island Bank and Southwestern Grand Banks. Gale warnings
are in effect for South Coast, East Coast - north of Cape St.
Francis, and Belle Isle Bank.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, East Coast - north of
Cape St. Francis, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank and Funk Island
Bank.
