Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 3:00 AM NST 19 February 2018 Today Tonight and Tuesday At 3:00 a.m. NST today low 984 mb located south of the Grand Banks.
By 10:00 a.m. NST today departing low 984 mb located southeast of
the Grand Banks.

At 3:30 p.m. NST today approaching trough located over Quebec.

At 3:00 a.m. NST today quasi-stationary ridge located from Funk
Island Bank to Quebec.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:47 AM NST 19 February 2018 An intense low pressure system south of the Grand Banks will move
east of the district today. Gale to storm force northerlies will
diminish over the Southern Grand Banks this afternoon as the low
moves away. Over the Northern Grand Banks, strong to gale force
northerlies associated with this feature will develop later this
morning and ease this evening as the low departs.

A trough of low pressure will approach Gulf waters late today. Strong
to gale force southwesterlies are forecast ahead of this system.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
the Southern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for Northeast
Gulf, Gulf-Port au Port, Belle Isle Bank, and Northern Grand Banks.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except Southwest Coast, South Coast, East Coast
- Cape St. Francis and south, and the Grand Banks.
