Issued 10:00 AM NST 17 January 2020 Today Tonight and Saturday At 10:00 a.m. NST today intensifying low 970 mb located south
of Newfoundland.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Saturday low 956 mb located east of Funk Island
Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:56 AM NST 17 January 2020 A low pressure system will rapidly intensify as it approaches the
marine district from the southwest today. The low will cross the
Grand Banks tonight and move northeast of the marine district on
Saturday. Gale to storm force easterlies ahead of the low will
increase to storm to hurricane force northerlies in its wake.
Winds will gradually diminish to gale to storm force northwesterlies
on Saturday as it departs.

Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for South Coast, East Coast, Belle Isle Bank, Funk Island
Bank, and Northern Grand Banks. Storm warnings are in effect for all
remaining waters except Strait of Belle Isle - western half and Gulf
waters where gale warnings are in effect.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters.

Marine interests are further advised that high water level warnings
are in effect for East Coast and Northeast Coast.
