Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 10:00 AM NDT 15 March 2026 Today Tonight and Monday At 10:00 a.m. NDT today low 989 mb located over Funk Island Bank.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Monday low 988 mb located east of the Marine
District.

At 3:00 a.m. NDT Monday trough located on a line east-west over
southern Labrador Sea.
By 3:30 p.m. NDT Monday trough located southeast of Belle Isle Bank.

At 3:30 p.m. NDT Monday approaching trough located over the
Maritimes.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:48 AM NDT 15 March 2026 A low pressure system over the Funk Island Bank will move northeast
of the region today. Strong to gale force northeast winds north of
the low shift to southwest south of it. Winds will increase to gale
to storm force northwesterlies in the wake of the low.

Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure over the Labrador Sea will slide
southeast on Monday and cross the Belle Isle Bank. This feature will
help maintain strong to gale force northwesterlies over eastern
waters on Monday.

A second trough will move over the Maritimes on Monday and bring
strong to gale force southeasterlies to southwestern waters late in
the day.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Funk Island Bank and Northern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in
effect for all remaining waters except Strait of Belle Isle and
Northeast Gulf.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Gulf waters, East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis,
Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
