Issued 9:30 PM NST 12 January 2026 Tonight and Tuesday At 9:30 p.m. NST tonight trough located over the East Labrador Sea.By 4:00 a.m. NST Tuesday dissipating trough located over central
Labrador Sea.
At 9:30 p.m. NST tonight low 955 mb located northeast of
Newfoundland.
By 9:30 p.m. NST Tuesday low 965 mb located south of Greenland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:14 PM NST 12 January 2026 A trough of low pressure over the East Labrador Sea will driftwestward and dissipate over the Central Labrador Sea tonight. Strong
to gale force northwesterlies can be expected west of the trough.
Meanwhile, a second low pressure system over the Northeast Coast of
Newfoundland will track northeastward to lie east of Belle Isle Bank
tonight before moving south of Greenland on Tuesday. A trough
extending from the low will retrograde westward across the Labrador
Sea on Tuesday. Gale to storm force northeasterlies to
northwesterlies will continue tonight and Tuesday over most waters as
the low passes to the southeast and the associated trough moves
across the district.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Labrador Coast and South Labrador Sea - southern half.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters except Lake
Melville and North Labrador Coast.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all regions with open water.
