Marine District.
At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight deepening low 1013 mb located east of
the Great Lakes.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Monday deepening low 987 mb located over the
Burin Peninsula.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 7:56 PM NST 7 December 2025 A trough of low pressure east of the marine district will remainstationary tonight before slowly moving northeastward on Monday.
Strong to gale force northwesterlies are expected over eastern waters
tonight before weakening on Monday.
Meanwhile, a low pressure system will rapidly intensify as it
approaches the region from the southwest tonight and Monday to lie
over the Burin Peninsula by Monday evening. Over southern waters,
strong southeasterlies ahead of the low will increase to gale force
south to southwesterlies as it nears. Gale force northwesterlies are
expected behind the low Monday evening.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for the
Southwest Coast, South Coast, Belle Isle Bank, Funk Island Bank, and
the Grand Banks.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle - eastern half, Gulf waters,
Northeast Coast, and Belle Isle Bank.
