northeast-southwest over the Grand Banks.
Marine Weather StatementIssued 9:52 AM NST 17 January 2019 An intensifying low pressure system northeast of Anticosti Island
will track across Southeastern Labrador today before moving into the
Labrador Sea tonight. The low will continue eastwards away from the
district on Friday. An associated trough will track across
Newfoundland today and exit the district tonight. Strong to gale
force southerlies ahead of the low and trough will shift to strong to
gale force westerlies in their wake. Winds will diminish to moderate
to strong southwesterlies by Friday evening as the low departs.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, East Coast - north of Cape St.
Francis, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except South Coast and the Southern Grand
