At 8:00 p.m. AST Sunday approaching low located south of Long
Island.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 7:30 PM AST 24 January 2026 Strong to gale force northwesterlies and very cold Arctic air givingfreezing spray will continue behind a departing cold front east of
the marine district.
A ridge will approach from the west tonight and will move to lie from
New Brunswick to East Scotian Slope Sunday evening. Winds will
gradually diminish to light near the ridge.
An intensifying low pressure system south of Long Island, New York
Sunday evening will move slowly across southern waters on Monday and
early Tuesday. Strong to gale force winds will be associated with
this feature.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan, Cabot Strait
and all Gulf of St Lawrence waters. Freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all marine waters.
