Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 8:00 PM NST 14 December 2017 Tonight and Friday At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight quasi-stationary low 956 mb located over
northern Labrador.

At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight intensifying low 994 mb located over
Laurentian Fan.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Friday low 956 mb located over northeastern
Labrador Sea.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:45 PM NST 14 December 2017 An intense low pressure system over Northern Labrador will slowly
meander tonight into Friday. A second, fast moving low pressure
system over the Laurentian Fan will rapidly intensify as it crosses
the Avalon Peninsula after midnight then accelerates towards the
Labrador Sea on Friday. The two lows will merge over the Labrador Sea
Friday night.

Over northwestern waters, strong to gale force southwesterlies will
persist tonight. Over southeastern waters, strong to gale force
southwesterlies will increase to storm force southerlies this evening
to the east of the second low. Gale to storm force southwesterlies
can be expected over most waters on Friday in the wake of both lows.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Strait of Belle Isle, South Coast, East Coast, Belle Isle Bank, Funk
Island Bank, and Northern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect
for all remaining waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, and Belle Isle Bank.
