Issued 10:00 AM NST 5 January 2025 Today Tonight and Monday At 10:00 a.m. NST today low 951 mb located over the southern East
Coast of Newfoundland.
By 3:30 p.m. NST today quasi-stationary low 951 mb located over
eastern Newfoundland.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:57 AM NST 5 January 2025 A powerful low pressure system off the Avalon Peninsula will continue
to track northward to lie over Eastern Newfoundland by this
afternoon. The low is expected to remain quasi-stationary over
Eastern Newfoundland for the remainder of the forecast period and
gradually weaken. Gale to storm force east to northerlies north of
the low will shift to storm to hurricane force northwest to
southwesterlies over southern waters south of the low. Winds will
begin to diminish on Monday as the low weakens.

Marine interests are advised that an hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Southwestern Grand Banks. Storm warnings are in effect
for all remaining waters except South Coast where a gale warning is
in effect.

Marine interests are also advised that a high water level warning is
in effect for East Coast and Northeast Coast.
