At 3:00 a.m. NST Sunday approaching low 1010 mb located near
Îles-de-la-Madeleine.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:57 AM NST 17 January 2026 An intense low pressure system just north of the Belle Isle Bank willcontinue northeastwards to lie east of the Labrador Sea later today.
Gale to storm force west to southwesterlies will persist over all
waters behind this system. Winds will gradually diminish throughout
the forecast period as the low drifts north of the Labrador Sea.
A second low pressure system will move across the island on Sunday.
Strong to gale force southwesterlies will develop over southern
waters on Sunday, south of this feature.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
all waters except Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, and Southwestern
Grand Banks, where gale warnings are in effect.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, East Coast, Northeast
Coast, Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
