Rain or snow beginning this morning becoming snow this evening then flurries Saturday morning. Visibility 1 mile or less in snow.

Freezing spray warning in effect.

Moderate at times severe freezing spray tonight and Saturday. Moderate freezing spray over northwestern sections Saturday late in the day.

Temperatures plus 2 falling to minus 13 to minus 5 this evening then rising to minus 8 to minus 3 Saturday evening.

Issued 3:00 AM NST 16 January 2026 Today Tonight and Saturday At 3:00 a.m. NST today low 984 mb located over Belle Isle Bank.
By 10:00 a.m. NST today departing low 984 mb located over eastern
Labrador Sea.

At 3:00 a.m. NST today deepening low 987 mb located south of
Nova Scotia.
By 3:00 a.m. NST Saturday low 952 mb located north of Belle
Isle Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:03 AM NST 16 January 2026 A rapidly deepening low pressure system south of Nova Scotia will
track northeastwards across Newfoundland today to lie just north of
Belle Isle Bank by tonight. Gale to storm force southerlies are
expected east of the low's track with strong to gale force
northerlies to northeasterlies to it's west. Winds will then shift to
gale to storm force southwesterlies to northwesterlies as the low
passes.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
all waters except Gulf waters, Northeast Coast, and Southeastern
Grand Banks where gale warnings are in effect.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, East Coast, Northeast
Coast, Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
