By 3:00 a.m. NST Sunday approaching trough located south of
Marine Weather StatementIssued 9:40 AM NST 29 February 2020 A trough of low pressure oriented on a line east-west over the Great
Northern Peninsula will remain nearly stationary today and tonight.
Strong to gale force westerlies to the south of the trough will
gradually diminish by overnight tonight as the trough weakens.
A second trough approaching from the southwest will align itself to
lie east - west over the Southern Grand Banks by late in the day on
Sunday. Strong to gale force east to northeasterlies will develop
tonight to the north of the trough. Strong to gale force westerlies
will develop south of the trough on Sunday.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Funk Island Bank and the Southern Grand Banks.
