By 8:00 p.m. NST tonight dissipating ridge located on a line
east-west over Belle Isle Bank.
At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight high located over the Maritimes.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Wednesday high located over the northern Grand
Marine Weather StatementIssued 2:47 AM NST 16 January 2018 A low pressure system will approach the Avalon Peninsula from the
southwest this morning and cross the Northern Grand Banks later
today. Strong to gale force easterlies ahead of the low will shift to
southwesterly gales south of it. Strong to gale force northerlies are
expected in the wake of this feature. Winds diminish tonight as the
low moves away.
Marine interests are advised that gale warning are in effect for
Southwest Coast, South Coast, East Coast - Cape St. Francis and
south, Funk Island Bank, and the Grand Banks.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Gulf waters, Southwest Coast,
Northeast Coast, and Belle Isle Bank.
