Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 8:00 PM AST 19 January 2020 Tonight and Monday At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight low 988 mb located east of Cape Breton
Island.
By 10:00 a.m. AST Monday departing low 989 mb located northeast
of Newfoundland.

At 8:00 p.m. AST Monday approaching ridge located over the Great
Lakes.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:48 PM AST 19 January 2020 A low pressure system east of Cape Breton Island will track towards
Newfoundland tonight before departing northeast of Newfoundland
Monday morning. Strong to gale force southerly winds are forecast
ahead of the low while strong to gale force easterlies are expected
north of it. There is a possibility that southerly winds could reach
near storm force over Laurentian Fan this evening. Later tonight
generally strong northerlies will prevail across the district behind
the low before diminishing somewhat by Monday evening.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
LaHave Bank, West Scotian Slope, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan, Cabot
Strait, and Gulf-Magdalen southeastern half.

Freezing spray warnings are in effect for Cabot Strait,
Northumberland Strait, Gulf-Magdalen, Chaleur-Miscou, and Anticosti.
