By 4:00 a.m. NST Monday quasi-stationary trough located on a line
northeast-southwest over the North Labrador Coast.
At 4:00 a.m. NST today low 954 mb located over the southwestern
Grand Banks.
By 4:00 p.m. NST today quasi-stationary low 952 mb located over
eastern Newfoundland.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:46 AM NST 5 January 2025 A powerful low pressure system over the Southwestern Grand Banks willmove to lie over Eastern Newfoundland this afternoon then remain
nearly stationary. Gale force northeasterlies will develop over most
waters later this afternoon or tonight as the low nears.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
waters except North Labrador Coast and Northwest Labrador Sea.
