At 3:00 a.m. NST today low 1012 mb located near
Îles-de-la-Madeleine.
By 3:00 p.m. NST today departing low 1013 mb located east of Funk
Island Bank.
At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight approaching low 1002 mb located southwest
of Nova Scotia.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:52 AM NST 18 January 2026 An intense low pressure system east of the Labrador Sea will departsoutheast of Greenland this morning. Gale to storm force west to
southwesterlies over northern waters will diminish this morning as
the low departs.
A second low pressure system will track eastward across the district
today and depart to the east of the Funk Island Bank this afternoon.
Strong to gale force southwesterlies will develop over southern
waters this morning and then diminish later today behind the low.
Another low approaching from the southwest will intensify on Monday
as it tracks northeastwards across the district. Strong to gale force
east to northeasterlies will develop to the north of its track, while
gale to storm force west to southwesterlies will develop to its
south. Winds will shift to strong to gale force northwesterlies in
the wake of the low.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Coast, East Coast, and Northern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are
in effect for all remaining waters except Strait of Belle Isle and
Gulf waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Strait of Belle Isle, Northeast Gulf, Northeast Coast, and
Belle Isle Bank.
